Neural hearing loss

Definition And Causes

Neural hearing loss is very rare. It is usually profound and permanent and caused by an absent or damaged hearing nerve. The nerve is not able to pass on sound information to the brain. Hearing aids and cochlear-implants cannot help.

TReatment

An auditory brainstem implant is the only solution for neural hearing loss.
